You Asked, We Answered

At Shinjitsu Audio, we want you to have a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish. To that end, we’ve compiled a FAQ list below that covers the most common questions we receive. Have a look, and if there’s something missing, please send us an email or give us a call and we’ll be happy to help out.

  • WHY A 4 INCH MAIN DRIVER?

The main driver was chosen as a 4-inch for several reasons: It matched the horn's directional characteristics in that it does not beam at the crossover frequency, it produces a detailed fast midrange and its moving mass is much lighter than a larger main driver: 6.4 Grams vs a moving mass of an 8-inch driver of: 36.5 Grams. Six times the weight of the 4-inch driver. The moving mass determines the speaker's ability to respond to musical transients.

  • HOW CAN A 4 INCH SPEAKER ACHIEVE DEEP BASS?

The main driver is indeed a 4-inch. It is a specially designed, extended-range driver with an Fs (resonance frequency) of 54 Hz. Placed into a 5 1/2 foot-long backloaded horn it can achieve an F3 of 34 Hz. Back Loaded Horns are very efficient at amplifying the back wave of the driver and producing additional bass of up to + 6 dB from 200 Hz down to 34 Hz. This additional bass exits from the horn mouth at the rear of the cabinet in phase with the front wave.

  • WHAT IS THE OVERALL SOUND SIGNATURE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?

Detailed natural smooth sound with projected dynamics. The horn's acoustic shape minimizes distortion and eliminates artifacts commonly associated with horns such as honkiness or shouting. The main 4-inch driver operates over 8 octaves and achieves deep, articulate extended bass with a

- 3 dB point of 34 Hz. The combination of dual horns presents as a unique sound quality unmatched by conventional speakers.

  • WHY COMPRESSION HORNS WHEN TWEETERS ARE USUALLY USED?

We chose compression drivers because they outperform conventional tweeters either ribbon or cones.
