Atom Speaker Builder Series

Reproduce the Atom Speaker

The Atom Speaker Builder Series is intended for builders who wish to reproduce the performance, alignment, and design objectives of the Atom Speaker through the use of the supplied Atom Acoustic Engine and published enclosure documentation.

The Atom Speaker Builder Series provides the engineered portion of the loudspeaker including the horn structure, crossover architecture, tuning system, external wiring, and published enclosure documentation.

Builders supply the enclosure, Mark Audio CHR70 driver, damping materials, finishing materials, and assembly labor.

When constructed according to the published documentation, builders can expect performance closely aligned with the Atom Speaker.

The Atom Acoustic Engine

The Atom Acoustic Engine combines the horn structure, compression driver, crossover architecture, and Continuum Tuning System into a single pre-assembled and tested package.

Every Acoustic Engine is assembled, tested, and inspected prior to shipment.

Included

  • Complete Atom Acoustic Engine assembly
  • B&C ME20 precision horn
  • Beyma CD17FE/PK compression driver installed and tested
  • External crossover network
  • Jantzen Audio Standard capacitors
  • Continuum Capacitor Array
  • Continuum Resistor Array
  • External jumper wiring between horn and enclosure
  • Published enclosure documentation
  • Port dimensions and tuning specifications
  • Wiring documentation
  • Measured performance data
  • Support for the published design
  • Serialized Builder Series identification badge

Builder Supplied Components

  • Mark Audio CHR70 Gen 3 wide-range driver
  • Cabinet materials
  • Port materials
  • Internal damping materials
  • Finishing materials
  • Face wood of choice
  • Assembly labor

The Mark Audio CHR70 driver is intentionally builder supplied, allowing builders to source the driver directly from their preferred supplier.

Continuum Capacitor Array

Three selectable capacitor values allow adjustment of crossover behavior and overall presentation.

  • Prominent mids
  • Neutral balance
  • Relaxed mids

Builders may select the presentation that best complements their room, electronics, and listening preferences.

Continuum Resistor Array

Each Acoustic Engine includes the resistor value used during development and measurement of the published design.

Additional resistor values are supplied to allow fine adjustment of horn level and overall presentation.

  • Reference resistor value used for published measurements
  • Additional resistor values for system matching
  • Bold presentation options
  • Neutral presentation options
  • Relaxed presentation options

The supplied resistor assortment covers the overwhelming majority of installations. Builders wishing to experiment further may source additional non-inductive resistor values independently.

Published Design Documentation

The supplied documentation includes the enclosure design used during development and measurement of the Atom Speaker.

  • Cabinet dimensions
  • Driver placement
  • Port specifications
  • Recommended materials
  • Wiring information
  • Assembly guidance

Measured Performance Data

Published measurements are based upon the specified Mark Audio CHR70 driver, published enclosure design, recommended port tuning, and reference resistor value.

Measurement data is included with the Builder Series documentation package.

Builder Series Identification

Each Builder Series package includes a serialized Builder Series identification badge.

The badge identifies the completed loudspeaker as an official Atom Builder Series product constructed from published Shinjitsu Audio documentation and distinguishes it from factory-built Reference Series loudspeakers.

Support Policy

Support is provided for loudspeakers constructed according to the published design.

Alternative drivers, enclosure volumes, port dimensions, crossover modifications, or custom cabinet designs may alter performance and fall outside the scope of Builder Series support.
